About the Authors

Amanda Cherry

Amanda Cherry is a wife and mom, an actor, and an author loving life in the suburbs of Seattle, WA. She’s an alumnus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas whose biggest claim to fame is having once co-starred with a Gecko in an insurance commercial.

As a queer, disabled author of urban & contemporary fantasy, space opera, and role play games, Amanda is drawn to stories that center people whose experiences and points of view are too often erased. She loves magic, mayhem, clever villains, unlikely love stories, and marginalized folx coming into their own power.

Amanda’s debut novel, Rites & Desires was released in 2018. Her short stories have appeared in Cobalt City Christmas: Christmas Harder and several editions of Mad Scientist Journal. She was on the writing team for the tabletop role play game Acute Paranoia and was a finalist in the 2018 NYC Midnight Short Story Challenge. She’s been a story consultant to the SyFy Docu-series Looking for Leia in which she was also an on-camera participant.

Amanda is a giant nerd, and a fixture of sci-fi, fantasy, and comic book conventions across the country. Find her on panels about everything from fashion & fanfiction to impostor syndrome and chronic illness. If you’re looking for someone to talk about Star Wars, Star Trek, gaming, or daring to be hyper-femme in geek spaces, she’s your gal.

Amanda has contributed to geek culture sites Tosche StationEleven-ThirtyEight, and Star Trek.com and has been featured in Journey Planet.

She is a member of SAG-AFTRA, SFWA and Broad Universe.

Amanda is represented by Claire Draper of the Bent Agency.

Nathan Crowder

Creator and curator of the superhero universe of Cobalt City, Nathan lives in the wilds of North Seattle, where he writes his weird stories and survives on a diet of coffee and irony. He draws inspiration from Kurt Vonnegut who reminds us, "God damn it, you've got to be kind."

Erik Scott de Bie

Erik Scott de Bie is a 30-something speculative fiction author and game designer.

He has published ten novels to date, including novels in the storied Forgotten Realms, his World of Ruin epic fantasy setting (the fourth of which, Scourge of the Broken World, is due out in 2019), as well as stand-alone novels for Broken Eye Books (Scourge of the Realm) and the horror novel Blind Justice.

His short work has appeared in numerous anthologies and online, and he is the author of the multimedia superhero project, Justice/Vengeance (including fiction, spoken word, and comics).

In his work as a game designer, he has contributed to products from such companies as Wizards of the Coast and Privateer Press, and he was the lead creative consultant on Red Aegis from Vorpal Games.

He lives in Seattle with his wife, cats, and dog. Learn more at erikscottdebie.com.

Dawn Vogel

Dawn Vogel's academic background is in history, so it’s not surprising that much of her fiction is set in earlier times. By day, she edits reports for historians and archaeologists. In her alleged spare time, she runs a craft business, co-runs a small press, and tries to find time for writing. She is a member of Broad Universe, SFWA, and Codex Writers. She lives in Seattle with her awesome husband (and fellow author), Jeremy Zimmerman, and their herd of cats.

You can reach Dawn at historythatneverwas@gmail.com or vogel.dawn@gmail.com.

Jeremy Zimmerman

Jeremy Zimmerman is a teller of tales who dislikes cute euphemisms for writing like “teller of tales.” He is the author of the young adult superhero book, Kensei and its sequel, The Love of Danger. In his copious spare time he is the co-editor of Mad Scientist Journal. He lives in Seattle with a herd of cats and his lovely wife (and fellow author) Dawn Vogel.
